About Deele Community Anglers

A Group with a Common Passion

Deele Community Anglers was founded in 1963 after a group of individuals decided to turn their shared interests into an official Fishing Club, since then we’ve grown as a community, and have expanded what we offer to our members. When you decide to join us, you too will gain access to various events and, most importantly, to a group of like-minded individuals who are just as passionate as you are.Our club provide Brown Trout, Salmon and Sea- Trout fishing for its members, working to improve and protect the waters we control to aid in the improvement, development, and conservation of Trout, Salmon and Sea-Trout angling as a sport and recreation in Donegal. We also have opened a Rainbow Trout fishery at our club lake in Mongorry, Raphoe

World Youth Fly Fishing Championships

ceremony was held on the flanks of the Italian Alps, this event celebrated the Fips Mouche Youth Fly Fishing Championships, and drew the week of competitive angling action to a conclusion. It is with great pride that our small Community Angling Organisation in East Donegal had the privilege of representation on the Irish National Team. Zack Barnett was our man out in Italy, representing our group. This is one of the first major high points of our development of angling in this area of Donegal. To say we are privileged, is an understatement, we are on cloud 9.From the early days of Zack coming along with his Dad, (Mark) to undertake casting lessons with Joseph Owens and Vaclav Preissler at Ballyheather Trout Fishery, it was apparent we had a rising star in our midst. How little did we know how far young Zack would progress during the next four years. Zack would achieve the ultimate honour of representing Ireland at a World Fly Fishing Championships. In terms of getting on the winning rostorium, it was not to be on this occasion. However, Zack and all concerned must realise that he was one of the youngest competitors at the team event. Time is very much on his side and this time from a personnel perspective, I know will help Zack develop into an even more accomplished angler. A big thank you to all who supported Zack and his family in preparation for this trip of a lifetime, a big thank you to FROG CIC for their continued and highly professional delivery of angling sessions/workshops, delivered by fully qualified angling instructors, which includes ourselves and other groups in the North West. Finally, take a well earned rest this week Zack, and we will get a catch up with you later in the week to hear the stories of our adventure. Well done young man, you have done us all very proud.👏

ITFFA International Youth Comp

ITFFA Result: "Gold for Ireland."Now that the dust has settled and all participants from this week’s ITFFA International Youth Angling Competition on Lough Lene have gone back to their respective Angling Groups. It gives us great pleasure and pride to acknowledge the achievements of our very own Fintan Kilpatrick and Thomas Grew, An International Gold Medal now sits proudly upon the mantlepiece.  As a small and emerging community angling group, this achievement by one of our members has given our entire group a serious confidence boost. The origins of our progressive angling development strategy, set out some three years ago, was created to allow the roadway for our members to challenge at an International level, thankfully in recent weeks we have had Zack Barnett represent Ireland at the Worlds, and now Fintan and Thomas achieving Gold Medal status with Ireland, not that shabby of a return for one of the smallest angling clubs on the Foyle system.  We would like to thank everyone attached, who supported Fintan and Thomas in recent months. The support of their family, coaches and friends, tells us how much this means to all attached. We would like to especially thank our own members who supported recent competitions and made donations. You are the heartbeat of our organisation.Fintan, Thomas, take a well-earned break young men, and all being well, we will have you out along the river supporting us with some maintenance works in prep for Sunday’s youth competition. Thank you all.
